AFRICA PODFEST Announces Continent's First Podcast Festival
FOR IMMEDIATE PRESS RELEASE
ANNOUNCING THE "AFRICA PODFEST," AFRICA'S FIRST PODCAST FESTIVAL COMING 2020
NAIROBI, KENYA (Sept. 5, 2019) - Africa Podfest will be the first gathering of its kind on the continent set to take place in Nairobi, Kenya in March 2020.
Announced by co-founders Melissa Mbugua and Paula Rogo at the “Unconference on Podcasting” in late August, the Africa Podfestwill be a space for the region's pioneers to convene as the media industry continues to evolve.
It will also be a space for international podcasting stakeholders to connect with African stakeholders on home ground. The spotlight will be on podcasting and digital media in Africa.
“The number of podcasts either produced on the continent or addressing themes relevant to Africans in the diaspora is growing,” said co-founder Melissa Mbugua. “Additionally, digital media audiences in the region are growing in size as a result of increasing internet access and uptake of mobile phones. As such, podcasting and digital media are set up for high growth.”
The festival will be an opportunity for podcasters, advertisers, producers, media practitioners, and investors to dive deep into the process of creating podcasts, discover existing podcasts, examine sustainability models and forge connections with players in the industry.
